BEST BUDDIES is a non-profit organization, founded in 1989, by Anthony Kennedy Shriver (Maria Shriver’s brother and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s brother-in-law).  It is a club designed to create friendships between disabled and non-disabled students, all over the world, on High School and College campuses.

At Cajon High School, in San Bernardino, CA. BEST BUDDIES has been the largest club on campus, for the last 8 years.  In the Inland Empire, there are 15 High Schools and 2 Universities participating in Best Buddies Clubs.  In San Bernardino Unified School District Arroyo Valley and Cajon High School have Best Clubs (For more info on Best Buddies, check out


Rick Lozano, of Fox 11 news, has been nominated for a Broadcasting Emmy for his Best Buddies: Friends Indeed Special, which features many students from Cajon High School.  Heather Dana-Lozano is the chairperson of this club.  Also featured in the special is Arroyo Valley students, a group which is chaired by Julie Barthelemy.
