Dear SBCUSD families and community members,

Welcome to our dynamic district. We are committed to providing all students in our District a first-class education from our quality preschool classrooms to the fabulous classes offered to our adults. The District's community engagement plan provides important guidance to fulfill the mission of SBCUSD, which is "to ensure all students, cradle to career, develop the knowledge, skills and proficiencies required for college, career, civic, and economic success by inspiring and engaging them."

Schools in the 21st century need to prepare students for jobs not yet imagined, and SBCUSD takes that preparation very seriously. The commitment this District has to academic excellence for every student is remarkable and unwavering. We must continue to lift our students to new heights, never losing sight of the fact that each learner is unique in his or her talents and needs.

I am grateful that our school district has improved its financial position as we continue to develop and refine our LCAP plan of action. We are taking a proactive approach to these financial issues by continuing to explore ways to better use our precious resources, while offering choice to our families and to our students. We have important work to do, and I am convinced we are on the right track largely due to the efforts and expertise of our students, staff, parents, and community members.

Learning does not stop when the school day ends. Students do best when they receive care and guidance from home, school and other community organizations. I love to get our into the community and into the schools where I continuously witness the support that comes from community members and from our families. All of us working together to implement effective partnerships and strategies, emphasizing the importance of education and lifelong learning now more than ever, will provide a solid foundation upon which our children can grow and learn. I encourage you to continue to partner with us to foster the leadership of tomorrow, which is growing in our children today.

Thank you for all you do to help our children reach their potential.
